Ideas needed to Improve Kids Wrestling in CT

Here's your chance to have your ideas heard. We here at USA Wrestling in CT are dedicated, committed and passionate about developing the sport of wrestling for our younger wrestlers between the ages of 8-14 years. I believe we have made that all-important first step by bringing in several great opportunities for our youth at no extra cost to the membership. But the challenge is in keeping the ball rolling. Certainly we will offer these same valuable experiences again next year but the hard part is trying to out-do ourselves as we go.

I've heard too many times “What is USA Wrestling doing for the Kids?“ and I have answered that this year with a full compliment of wrestling experiences that this state has never seen. But this isn't good enough for some of the few vocal critics, and I find comfort in that many of us still want to go further. But the task becomes more difficult as we mature as a state. My reply to all my critics will always be…….“What is it that you want us to do?“ and often times I get the same blank stare. Rather than knocking us for what we are not doing, support us in what we are doing and precisely tell us your needs. At least this way, if you cannot offer us an idea to execute you can define for us your struggles thereby giving us a starting point from which to begin helping.

Challenge us to execute the ideas that you come up with. Help us create a laundry list of items that will certainly benefit us all in the long run. Initiate change rather than complain that there is none. Be part of the solution instead of part of the problem.

I ask all of you to put your thinking caps on. Challenge yourself for solutions rather than challenging each other and send your ideas to me so that we can begin planning our next move. I thank you for the support and encouragement that you have given us to date and only ask that you begin making your Christmas list now.

Respectfully,
